Dog clothes by size: XS, S, M, L, XL

In short: Feel with Fill has five standard dog clothing sizes — XS, S, M, L, XL. The key measurement is the chest girth: XS 27–32 cm, S 31–36 cm, M 35–41 cm, L 40–46 cm, XL 45–51 cm. Every model in the catalogue is made in all five: All products currently lists 131 items, 100 of which are garments in twelve categories made on the XS–XL grid: the cheapest polo is $19 and the dearest jumpsuit, the padded “Gossip-puffer”, is $79. The price does not change with the size — XS and XL of the same model cost the same. If the chest girth is under 27 cm or over 51 cm, we sew to your dog’s own measurements: +15% to the price of the model, 3–6 business days. Below is what to buy in each size; how to take the measurements is explained step by step in our size guide.

The Feel with Fill size grid: three measurements, five sizes

We have been sewing since 2023 in our own workshop in Kyiv, using our own patterns, so one grid covers everything we make — from a polo to a padded jumpsuit. Three measurements decide the size: chest girth (the main one), back length and neck girth. Height at the withers is not used in the chart — the withers are simply where the back-length measurement starts.

  • XS — chest girth 27–32 cm (10.6–12.6 in), back length 21–25 cm (8.3–9.8 in), neck up to 22 cm
  • S — chest girth 31–36 cm (12.2–14.2 in), back length 26–30 cm (10.2–11.8 in), neck up to 26 cm
  • M — chest girth 35–41 cm (13.8–16.1 in), back length 31–35 cm (12.2–13.8 in), neck up to 30 cm
  • L — chest girth 40–46 cm (15.7–18.1 in), back length 36–40 cm (14.2–15.7 in), neck up to 34 cm
  • XL — chest girth 45–51 cm (17.7–20.1 in), back length 41–45 cm (16.1–17.7 in), neck up to 38 cm

The standard range therefore covers a chest girth of 27–51 cm (10.6–20.1 in) and a back length of 21–45 cm. Numbered sizes 12, 14, 16 and 18, used by some other makers, are the back length in centimetres; all of them are below our 21 cm minimum, so a dog that size is a made-to-measure job. The measuring instructions, the inch chart and the note on the withers are in the size guide, and the starting points per breed are on the size by breed page. This page answers a different question: what to buy once you already know the size.

Dog clothes size XS: chest girth 27–32 cm

Back length 21–25 cm, neck up to 22 cm — our smallest standard size. On our size-by-breed page XS is the starting point for toy terriers (adult chest girth 24–33 cm), chihuahuas (25–38 cm, so XS–S), toy poodles (27–36 cm, XS–S), smaller yorkshire terriers (28–40 cm, XS–M) and pomapoos (28–40 cm, XS–M); a micro maltipoo also lands in XS. If another brand’s label shows a number between 21 and 25, that is the back length in centimetres, which matches our XS.

What to buy in XS. The smallest dogs have a thin coat and almost no undercoat, so they get cold first and a warm layer comes before anything else: dog hoodies — 14 models, brushed “Hugme” and “Teddy” at $38, mink-knit “Furry” at $39. For indoors and mid-season, jumpers and turtlenecks: the “Waffle” longsleeve $25, the “Charmie” turtleneck $27, the jumper with pompoms $29. For warm days, T-shirts and polos: the “Waffle” polo $19 — the cheapest model on the XS–XL grid — the “Lora” T-shirt $21, “Mickey” $23. For drizzle, a fleece anorak at $35 (all eight colours cost the same); for slush, a fleece jumpsuit at $52. More on the smallest breeds: toy terrier clothes, chihuahua clothes and small dog clothes.

Between XS and S. A chest girth of 31–32 cm falls into both sizes, so the back length decides: up to 25 cm take XS, from 26 cm take S. If both measurements sit on the border, choose “Custom size” on the product page, or simply place the order and our manager will confirm the numbers with you.

Dog clothes size S: chest girth 31–36 cm

Back length 26–30 cm, neck up to 26 cm. S is the next step up: larger chihuahuas (25–38 cm, XS–S), pomeranians (30–42 cm, S–M), maltipoos (30–46 cm, S–L), yorkies (28–40 cm, XS–M), pomapoos (28–40 cm, XS–M) and toy poodles near the top of their range (27–36 cm, XS–S). A numbered label between 26 and 30 corresponds to our S.

What to buy in S. This is where the dressier half of the catalogue comes into its own: dog dresses — 10 models, the denim pinafore dress at $35 and the rest at $37 (linen “Belle&Bow”, batiste, waffle “Waffle”, denim “Grace”, flannel “Timeless”, the embroidered “Bloom” pinafore); dog shirts — 9 models, flannel $37, linen $39. The warm layer is a hoodie at $38–39, and the rain layer an anorak at $35 or a vest from $32. The whole Coquette classy collection (16 models, $19–39) is made in XS–XL too. Breed-specific notes: pomeranian clothes, maltipoo clothes, toy poodle clothes.

Between S and M. The overlap is 35–36 cm; after that the back length decides (up to 30 cm S, from 31 cm M). With a fluffy dog — a pomeranian, or a maltipoo with a grown-out coat — do not pull the tape tight: the clothes should not press the coat down, and a tight tape gives a smaller number than the real one.

Dog clothes size M: chest girth 35–41 cm

Back length 31–35 cm, neck up to 30 cm. M is the busiest size among small and medium breeds: yorkies (XS–M), pomeranians (S–M), maltipoos (S–L), miniature poodles (35–46 cm, M–L), miniature dachshunds (35–45 cm, M–L or made to measure because of the long back), pekingese (38–48 cm, M–L), smaller shih tzus (40–50 cm, L–XL, M for small ones) and cavapoos at the lower end of their range (40–51 cm, M–XL).

What to buy in M. This is a good size for building a layered wardrobe: the base layer is a turtleneck at $25–29 or a T-shirt at $19–23; the mid layer a hoodie at $38–39 or a vest (18 models) — the “Teddy” vest $32, a fleece vest $38, the raincoat-fabric “Vivienne” $45, the “Puffy” puffer vest $46; the outer layer a jumpsuit (17 items, $20–79) — the “Marti” linen trousers $20, a linen duster $42, the “Four-Paws Bodysuit” convertible jumpsuit $50, a fleece jumpsuit $52, the membrane “Heaven” $71. After a bath or a wet walk, the drying robe at $39 earns its place.

Between M and L. The overlap is 40–41 cm. If the chest sits in that band and the back is longer than 35 cm, take L. The dachshund is the standing exception: the chest often fits M while the back runs past the grid, which is why we suggest made-to-measure — see dachshund clothes.

Dog clothes size L: chest girth 40–46 cm

Back length 36–40 cm, neck up to 34 cm. L covers maltipoos (S–L), miniature poodles (M–L), miniature dachshunds (M–L), pekingese (M–L, XL for larger dogs), shih tzus (40–50 cm, L–XL), jack russell terriers (40–48 cm, L — M for smaller dogs, XL or made to measure for sturdy ones) and cavapoos (40–51 cm, M–XL).

What to buy in L. This is the size where the outer layer matters most: “Teddy” bombers at $45 (milk-white and cappuccino), the “Brooklyn Jacket” at $52 — the only model in that category — the fleece-lined “Gossip-coat” at $66 in two colours, and the “Puffy” puffer vest at $46. The base layer is the same as in the smaller sizes: shirts $37–39, hoodies $38–39, turtlenecks $25–29. Breed guides for this range: pekingese and shih tzu and jack russell terrier.

Between L and XL. The overlap is 45–46 cm, and the logic is unchanged: chest first, then back length (up to 40 cm L, from 41 cm XL). For a stocky dog with a wide chest and a short back a standard pattern fits less well, so “Custom size” is the safer choice from the start.

Dog clothes size XL: chest girth 45–51 cm

Back length 41–45 cm, neck up to 38 cm — our largest standard size. XL suits shih tzus (L–XL), cavapoos (40–51 cm, M–XL), larger pekingese and sturdy jack russells, and also medium poodles and cavalier king charles spaniels (45–55 cm): for those two breeds XL works as long as the measurements stay inside 51 cm, otherwise we sew to measure. For a compact beagle our size-by-breed page gives XL as the starting point too.

What to buy in XL. The same models are available: jumpsuits — fleece $52, membrane “Heaven” $71, the padded “Gossip-puffer” $79 (the most expensive jumpsuit we make); the fleece-lined “Gossip-coat” $66; anoraks $35; vests $32–46; hoodies $38–39. If the chest girth is close to 51 cm or the back is longer than 45 cm, do not stretch XL to fit — that is a made-to-measure order. Breed guides: poodle clothes, beagle clothes.

Smaller than XS: XXS, micro dogs and numbered sizes 12–18

There is no XXS in our grid — the smallest standard size is XS, from a 27 cm chest girth and a 21 cm back length. Below that a standard piece would be too big, so we sew to measure: choose “Custom size” on the product page, +15% to the price of the model, 3–6 business days. The same applies to numbered sizes 12, 14, 16 and 18, which are back lengths of 12–18 cm, below our minimum. Our size-by-breed page says it plainly: very tiny toy terriers are made to measure, and so is any chihuahua with a chest girth under 27 cm. Three measurements are needed — back length, chest girth and neck girth. The manager confirms them after the order, or you can send them straight away to info@feelwithfill.com, to Instagram @feel.with.fill or by phone on +380 93 379 40 82 (contacts).

Larger than XL: a chest girth over 51 cm

The standard grid ends at XL — chest girth 45–51 cm, back length 41–45 cm. For a dog whose chest is wider than 51 cm or whose back is longer than 45 cm the answer is the same mechanism: made to measure, +15% to the price of the model, 3–6 business days. On our size-by-breed page we list made-to-measure as the route for pugs (48–60 cm, wide chest, short back and neck), beagles (50–65 cm), french bulldogs (50–70 cm, wide chest with a short back), welsh corgis, both pembroke and cardigan (55–70 cm, deep chest, low-set body), and also for italian greyhounds (35–45 cm, deep chest and narrow waist) and miniature dachshunds with a long back — there it is the proportions rather than the size. Breed guides: pug clothes, french bulldog clothes, corgi clothes.

When your dog is between two sizes

Go by the chest girth first — it decides whether the piece sits comfortably. Neighbouring sizes in our grid overlap by 1–2 cm: XS and S at 31–32 cm, S and M at 35–36 cm, M and L at 40–41 cm, L and XL at 45–46 cm. Inside those bands the second argument is the back length and the third is the build. With a wide chest and a short back (pug, french bulldog) or a deep chest and a narrow waist (italian greyhound) a standard pattern fits less well, and “Custom size” is the better call. If you are unsure, just place the order — the manager will get in touch and help you choose. For a puppy that is still growing there is a separate article on puppy clothes, and what to wear in frost is covered in winter dog clothes.

The price is the same in every size from XS to XL

XS, S, M, L and XL of the same model cost the same — there is no surcharge for a bigger dog. Examples straight from the product pages: the “Teddy” hoodie is $38 in all five standard sizes and $44 as a custom size; the “Marti” linen trousers are $20 and $23 respectively. The “Custom size” option adds 15% to the price of the model, rounded up to a whole dollar — the exact figure is shown next to the sizes on the product page. It does not change the production time: 3–6 business days, exactly as for a standard size.

What is available in every size from XS to XL

These are the categories where every model is made in the five standard sizes and to measure; model counts and prices are current as of October 2026.

Bandanas and accessories follow a different sizing logic

Dog bandanas are not on the XS–XL grid: their product pages show “One size” — 18 models from $10 to $13 — and the “Custom size” option is available for them as well. The women’s flannel shirts in matching dog and owner outfits are “One size” too, because that size is a human one, while the dog half of the set runs XS–XL. The “Teddy” cosmetic bags come in S and M, since they are an accessory for the owner rather than for the dog. So when a product page shows “One size” instead of XS–XL, nothing is wrong — it is simply a different kind of item.

How to order and what happens if the size is wrong

Everything is made to order in our Kyiv workshop: 3–6 business days from payment, or from the prepayment for a cash-on-delivery order. If the model happens to be in stock in your size, we ship sooner, and we tell you in advance if anything delays the order. International orders go worldwide with international carriers and usually take 1–2 weeks; the manager agrees the shipping cost and the payment method with you before dispatch, and online card payment on the site currently works with Ukrainian cards only. Free delivery from UAH 4,000 applies within Ukraine only, and we do not ship to russia or belarus. A standard size can be exchanged or returned within 14 calendar days of receipt, provided the item has kept its original look, tags and packaging and has not been worn or washed; the refund arrives within 5 business days after the return reaches us. Made-to-measure items and items in a non-standard colour cannot be exchanged or returned. Full terms: shipping and payment and exchange and returns; anything else is answered in our FAQ.

Which size should I choose if my dog’s chest girth is 33 cm?
33 cm falls into size S (31–36 cm). Check the second measurement: if the back length is 26–30 cm, S is your size. If the back is shorter than 26 cm, your dog is between XS and S, and “Custom size” is the safer choice.

Does Feel with Fill make an XXS size?
No. Our smallest standard size is XS: chest girth 27–32 cm, back length 21–25 cm. For a dog smaller than XS we make any model to its own measurements: +15% to the price of the model, 3–6 business days.

Is an XL piece more expensive than an XS one?
No, the price is the same in all five standard sizes. The “Teddy” hoodie, for example, is $38 in XS and $38 in XL. Only a custom size costs more — 15% above the price of the model, which for that hoodie is $44.

Which models are available in size M?
All of them. Twelve clothing categories — 100 models in total — are made on the XS–XL grid: hoodies, turtlenecks and jumpers, T-shirts and polos, shirts, dresses, vests, anoraks, bombers, a jacket, jumpsuits, coats and the drying robe. Accessories sit outside the grid: bandanas are One size and the cosmetic bags come in S and M.

What should I do if my dog’s chest girth is more than 51 cm?
The standard grid ends at XL (45–51 cm). If the chest is wider than that, or the back longer than 45 cm, choose “Custom size” on the product page: we will sew any model to your dog’s measurements in 3–6 business days, +15% to the price.

Can I exchange a piece if the size does not fit?
A standard size, yes — within 14 calendar days of receipt, provided the item has kept its original look, tags and packaging and shows no signs of wear or washing. Return shipping is paid by the customer. Made-to-measure items cannot be exchanged or returned.

How long does an order in a standard size take?
3–6 business days from payment — the same as for a custom size. If the model is in stock in your size, we ship sooner.
