Maltipoo clothes: size, winter jumpsuit and hoodies
In short: a maltipoo is a cross between a Maltese and a toy or miniature poodle, so adult dogs differ a lot in size. Micro and mini maltipoos usually wear XS–S, larger ones M–L, which covers a chest girth of 27–46 cm (10.6–18.1 in). The curly coat has almost no dense undercoat, so a maltipoo gets cold in damp weather, in slush and especially after a short haircut. The curls also tangle easily where fabric rubs, so choose the right size and pieces with a smooth lining.

How to measure a maltipoo
Have the dog stand on all four paws and use a soft tape measure. Wrap it around the deepest part of the chest, just behind the front legs, so that it rests on the curls without squashing them; then measure the back from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. Timing matters with this breed: a maltipoo fresh from the groomer measures noticeably less than one in full coat, and as the curls grow back the same piece sits tighter. Measure at the coat length your dog will have in the season you are buying for. If the numbers fall between two sizes, go by the chest, or choose “Custom size” and we will sew the model to your dog’s measurements (+15%, 3–6 business days from payment).
Size by weight: micro, mini, F1 and F2
Maltipoos have no breed standard, and two dogs of the same weight can need different sizes. Use weight as a rough guide and confirm the size with the chest girth.

Clothes for a maltipoo puppy
Maltipoo puppies keep growing until about a year old, so resist buying a size up “to grow into”: an oversized piece twists, gets under the paws and rubs the soft coat into tangles. Choose by today’s chest girth and re-measure every 2–3 weeks. If the chest is under 27 cm (10.6 in), smaller than our XS, order a custom size. Winter clothes for a maltipoo
For winter walks a jumpsuit is the most practical piece: it covers the belly and legs, where wet snow, road salt and mud cling to the curls, so you are not washing the dog after every walk. For frost choose the padded “Gossip-puffer”; for thaw and slush, the water-repellent “Heaven” with a removable hood and a hidden harness opening; for cool, damp days, a fleece jumpsuit, which does not soak through and has a zip along the back for easy dressing. If your maltipoo refuses jumpsuits, try the “Puffy” puffer vest in waterproof fabric or a fleece anorak with a water-repellent finish. Hoodie or turtleneck after grooming
Many owners keep their maltipoo in a short teddy-bear or puppy cut because it is easier to brush. With the coat cut short, the dog loses heat quickly and may shiver even indoors. A soft layer solves this: brushed hoodies for walks and chilly rooms, and knitted turtlenecks that warm the neck and back at home or under a vest outside.
Maltipoo clothes for boys and girls
Our models share one cut for boys and girls, so you choose by size and colour. For girls, owners often go for pink, milk-white or light-blue shades and our dresses; for boys, khaki, taupe, anthracite and chocolate. Light blue suits white, cream and apricot coats, milk white pairs nicely with apricot and chocolate ones, and beige brings out cream and ginger.
How to keep clothes from matting the curls
Maltipoo curls tangle where fabric keeps moving against them: under the front legs, across the chest and around fastenings. A few habits keep the coat in shape:
• choose details that do not grab hair: the “Hugme” hoodie has a natural lining inside the hood and sleeves that hides the seams, the fleece jumpsuit closes at the neck with a hidden hook-and-loop tab, and the zip of the fleece anorak is edged with binding;
• choose the right size rather than a snug fit: you should be able to slide a finger under the fabric;
• take the clothes off indoors and brush your dog after the walk, starting behind the front legs, where mats usually begin.
